SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start Microsoft Visio, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Msvcp60.dll is linked to the missing export Msvcrt.dll.

-or-

Msvcp60.dll is linked to the missing export Msvcrt.dll:lc_collate_cp.

-or-

Error - the procedure entry point __lc _collate_cp could not be located in the dll msvcrt.dll.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if an incorrect version of the Msvcrt.dll file is installed on your computer. Multiple Msvcrt.dll files may exist on the system in different folders, and the system may try to use one of these incorrect versions.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Quit all running programs and turn off any antivirus software.
  2. Insert your Microsoft Visio 2000 CD into the CD-ROM or or DVD-ROM drive. If the Installer starts automatically, click Exit to quit.
  3. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following folder on the CD:

    \Install\bin\sp\SPCore

  4. Locate the spcore.msi file. Right-click spcore.msi, and then click Uninstall.
  5. After the file is removed, right-click spcore.msi and then click Install.
  6. If you are prompted to restart the computer, click Yes. If you are not prompted, restart the computer.
