OL2000: (CW) Only the Read Status of a Message that You Read Offline is Synchronized with the Exchange Server (281566)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q281566
NOTE: The procedures in this article only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. With this option, you can use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, click About Microsoft Outlook on the Help menu. If you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation, you see "Corporate or Workgroup".

SUMMARY

If you read a message while you are working offline, only the read status is synchronized with the Microsoft Exchange Server the next time that you work online.

MORE INFORMATION

This occurs because the read status is the only property that is uniquely handled during synchronization, and the entire message is not synchronized with the server. If you make any other modifications to the message, the entire message is synchronized with the Exchange server.
