XADM: Events.exe Crashes When You Stop Event Service on Exchange 2000 (281540)

If you run an application that uses the Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 routing agent (the Exchange Routing Wizard that is included in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 1 and later) on an Exchange 2000 server, the Exchange 2000 Event service causes an Application Access Violation error. This only occurs when you are stopping the service or shutting down the server.
You receive the following error message:
Microsoft Exchange Event: EVENTS.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0xXXXXXXXX" referenced memory at "0xXXXXXXXX".
The Memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the application.
Click on CANCEL to debug the application.
[OK] [Cancel]
CAUSE
The Exchange 2000 Event service stops working (crashes) because it is trying to free up memory twice when you stop the service or shut down the server.
