The Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1 CD is a full replacement for Visio 2000 and Trial versions of Visio 2000. The contents of the SR-1 CD is not in patch format, and you should avoid installing Visio 2000 SR-1 over a previous copy of Visio 2000.

Before you install Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1 on a computer that has another version of Visio 2000 installed, Microsoft recommends that you completely uninstall the previous version by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in the Windows Control Panel.

Microsoft recommends that you disable any antivirus and system scanning software, any programs, and any unnecessary processes when you perform this procedure.

To uninstall a Trial version or a previous edition of Visio 2000, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click Visio 2000, and then click Add/Remove.

    This starts the Visio Installation Manager (VIM). After the Visio Installation Manager has finished initializing, click Next.
  4. Click Uninstall Visio, and then click Next.
  5. A list of all components to be removed is displayed. Click Next.
  6. In Windows Explorer, delete the following folders and their subfolders.

    IMPORTANT: Deleting the Visio folder also deletes the Program Files\Visio\Solutions folder, which may contain personal templates, stencils, and custom solutions. Be sure to copy all personal files in this folder to another folder for safekeeping before you delete this folder.

After you have completed these steps, you can install Microsoft Visio SR-1 on the computer.
