FIX: Datacenter Server Is Unable to Come Online When One Cluster Node Is Offline (281484)

This article was previously published under Q281484 SYMPTOMS In Windows Clustering, the Microsoft Distributed
Transaction Coordinator resource does not come online if the other nodes in the
cluster are offline. This problem occurs if you list only one node as
possible owner of another separate or unrelated resource in the
cluster. Datacenter Server logs the following error in the Event
Viewer application log of the node in which the Datacenter Server resource was
unable to come online: Event ID: 4382 Source:
MSDTC
MS DTC was unable to determine the version of the data
associated with MS DTC cluster resource. MS DTC cannot continue to startup.
Please contact Microsoft Product Support. Error Specifics: .\msdtc.cpp:832,

The following error may be logged in the cluster log:
Distributed Transaction Coordinator MSDTC: Failed to
start service. Error: 1077. CAUSE This problem occurs if you list only one node as possible
owner of another separate or unrelated resource in the cluster. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service
