SUMMARY

When you attempt to delete the Microsoft NetMeeting, Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft FrontPage, or the Microsoft Pinball folder, you may receive the following error message:
Error Deleting File or Folder

Cannot delete folder name: There has been a sharing violation.

The source or destination file may be in use.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows File Protection (WFP) handles the folders under the Winlogon process. There is no practical way to remove the folders, but the folders can be hidden from view. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open a command prompt.
  2. Change the folder path to the location of the folder that needs to be hidden.
  3. Enter the following command:

    attrib folder name +h +r +s

When the folder has the System, Hidden, and Read-Only attributes (the Read-Only attribute is optional), the folder is not displayed in Windows Explorer, or in a folder listing at a command prompt. To display a folder that has System and Hidden attributes, enable the Hide protected operating system files option.
