OL2002: Removing HP OpenMail Client Account Through Outlook 2002 Generates Error Message (281375)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to remove a Hewlett-Packard (HP) OpenMail client profile in Outlook 2002, one of the following error messages may appear:
MAPIAlloc: memory block 01173928 has invalid allocation flags
[File d:\office\outlook\exolk\mapi\msmapi\memory.c, Line 317]
MAPIAlloc: memory block 01173B90 has invalid allocation flags
[File d:\office\outlook\exolk\mapi\msmapi\memory.c, Line 317]
Microsoft Visual C++
Unhandled exception in RUNDLL32.EXE: 0xC0000005: Access Violation.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because HP OpenMail is not a supported transport for Outlook 2002.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, click Ignore, and then continue with the procedure. It may also be desirable to create a new profile without the HP OpenMail service.
