This article was previously published under Q281369 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to add a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory in Outlook 2002, the following message may appear even though you are not adding an e-mail account:
The E-mail Account you have just added will not start until you choose Exit from the File menu, and then restart Microsoft Outlook.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Outlook 2002 erroneously reports the new account as an e-mail account. The LDAP account is created normally.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, click OK in the dialog box, and then quit and restart Outlook.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
