PRJ2000: ALT GR Key in Windows 98 SE (Polish) Produces Incorrect Result (281289)

SYMPTOMS

The ALT GR+X key combination does not produce an accented z; instead, the key combination does nothing.

The ALT GR+C key combination does not produce an accented c; instead, the key combination acts as a Paste command.

CAUSE

You are using the Polish Standard or Polish Programmer keyboard under Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition (Polish).

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the ASCII codes ALT+171 (accented z) and ALT+134 (accented c).

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
