ENT2001: How to Send Messages to Blind Carbon Copy (Bcc) Recipients (281265)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Entourage 2001 for Mac
- Microsoft Exchange Update for Entourage X (Office v. X 10.1.4 Update)
This article was previously published under Q281265 SYMPTOMS
You cannot use the Bcc (blind carbon copy) field to send messages in Entourage.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, address the message to yourself and to a specially configured address group. To do this:
NOTE: These steps assume that all of the intended message recipients, including yourself, are added as Contacts in your Entourage Address book.
- On the File menu, click New, and then click Group.
- In the Group Name box, type a name for the group, and then add all the recipients that you want to blind carbon copy to the group.
- Click to select the Don't show addresses when sending to group check box.
- Click Save and close the group.
When you address the message, enter your e-mail address in the To field and the name of the group that you created in the Bcc field.
MORE INFORMATION
When you send a message by using the Bcc field, it is possible that some Internet mail servers may place these recipients in the To field of the message, thereby defeating the purpose of a blind carbon copy message.
