PRB: SQL Server Time Zone Is Used When Data Is Processed According to Service Window Times (281180)

SYMPTOMS

In BizTalk Server 2000, users can set the times to perform final processing for documents that are destined for a specific port. This time interval is known as a Service Window.

When BizTalk Server processes the data according to the Service Window, BizTalk Server may appear to process the data late or it may attempt to process the data, and then return an error during transmission.

CAUSE

Service Window times are executed according to the time zone in which SQL Server is running. BizTalk Server uses several SQL Server databases as its main data store. If BizTalk Server is running in a region that is in the Pacific time zone and its SQL Server computer is located in the Eastern time zone, the Service Window will execute according to the Eastern time zone.

RESOLUTION

BizTalk Server and the SQL Server database that is being used as its data store should be located on computers that are configured with the same time zone setting.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
