OL2002: After Upgrade, E-mail Account Profile Changes from LAN Connection to Phone Line (281066)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q281066

SYMPTOMS

When your profile for an earlier version of Outlook is configured for connection to a Microsoft Exchange Server computer over a local area network (LAN), and you then upgrade to Microsoft Outlook 2002, the profile may show that connection to the Exchange Server is now through a phone line.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because in Outlook 2002, the Connection tab replaces the Dial-up Networking tab in the Microsoft Exchange Server properties dialog box. In earlier versions of Outlook, the default option was Dial using the following connection, and this setting carries over to Outlook 2002.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, on the Connection tab of the Microsoft Exchange Server properties dialog box, click Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN), and then click OK.
