OL2002: You Cannot Link Multiple Contacts to an Item (281060)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q281060

SYMPTOMS

When you try to link a group of 30 or more contacts to an Outlook item, the contacts are not added.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Outlook 2002 limits the number of contacts that you can link to an item to less than 30. This limit was implemented to improve the performance of the contact linking feature.

MORE INFORMATION

It is technically possible to add more than 30 linked contacts to an item, but the contact linking feature was not designed to support that many contacts. If you link more than 30 contacts to an item, it may cause unpredictable results.
