SYMPTOMS

When you add the foreign national and religious holidays (for countries whose first letter begins with A - F) to the Outlook Calendar, the following errors are noted. RESOLUTION

Use one of the following three methods to resolve errors in calendar holidays:
  • To correct erroneous holidays in existing the calendar, double click and manually edit each event to change the date or spelling error. -or-

  • Use the following steps to remove all the existing holiday events:
    1. Open the Calendar.
    2. On the View menu, point to Current View, and then click Annual Events.
    3. On the View menu, point to Current View, and then click Customize Current View.
    4. Click the Filters button, and then click the Clear All button to remove the filters that hide some events.
    5. In the right column of the Annual Events view, you should see the Categories column with "Holiday (without quotation marks) as an entry.
    6. Click to select the first entry in that column, and scroll down to the last entry. While holding the SHIFT key, click the last entry to highlight all of them, and then press the DELETE key.
    7. Follow step 3 to correct the holiday entries.
    8. On Tools menu, click Options, click Calendar Options, and the Add Holidays button. Click to select the holiday selection that you want to add, and then click OK.
    -or-

  • Use the following steps to edit the text file that is used as a source document for creating the events:
    1. Close Microsoft Outlook.
    2. Click Start, point to Find or Search, click Files or Folders, and type outlook.hol in the Named box.
    3. In the Look in box, change the location to your local disk, and then click Find Next.
    4. Hold down the CTRL key, right-click the file name, click the Open With menu, and then locate the Notepad.exe file.
    5. Scroll to the country that you want to add or modify entries.
    6. Make changes as needed, keeping with the following syntax:

      Holiday Name,YYYY/MM/DD (note there are no spaces between the name and the date.
