OL2002: Restart Outlook After You Clear the Instant Messaging Option (280961)

SYMPTOMS

If you click the Tools menu, click Options, and then click to clear the Enable Instant Messaging in Microsoft Outlook option on the Other tab in Outlook 2002, the Instant Messaging option is still listed on the Tools menu.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, close and then restart Outlook.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
