The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Outlook 2002
- Microsoft Windows CE Services 2.0
- Microsoft Windows CE Services 2.1
- Microsoft Windows CE Services 2.2
- Microsoft ActiveSync 3.0
This article was previously published under Q280909 SYMPTOMS When you synchronize a PocketPC (PPC) device using
ActiveSync or a WinCE 2.0-based handheld device by using Windows CE Services
2.0, the following security warning appears: A program
is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to
allow this?
If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should
choose "No". You then have to choose the number of minutes that you
will allow access to your addresses. This behavior occurs when you set
ActiveSync to synchronize continuously or to synchronize remotely.
CAUSE This behavior occurs because Outlook 2002 security blocks
remote access to your computer. This behavior is by design. WORKAROUND Install the newest version of ActiveSync. You can download
ActiveSync from the following Web site: MORE INFORMATION The warning appears when ActiveSync or Windows CE Services
2.0 is looking for address information. For example, if you have to change a
meeting request on a PPC to add another contact from your Contacts, ActiveSync
tries to access the Address Book when synchronizing.
