Synchronizing e-mail messages with an OST does not update the Sent Items folder when you use Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2002 to work offline (280851)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q280851

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 or Microsoft Outlook 2002 to work offline with Offline Folder Storage (OST) enabled, folder synchronization may seem to be incomplete.

If you send an e-mail message to yourself while you are working offline and then perform synchronization, the message appears both in the Inbox and in the Sent Items folder. However, if you close and then restart Outlook to work online, the message is present in the Inbox but not in the Sent Items folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, perform a second synchronization of your Offline Folder Store to your Exchange mailbox.
