PPT2002: AutoCorrect Options Toolbar Does Not Correctly Undo AutoCorrect Text That Contains Quotation Marks (280606)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
This article was previously published under Q280606 SYMPTOMS
When you select Change back to old word on the AutoCorrect Options toolbar and then attempt to select Redo AutoCorrect, you may be unable to do so.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs under the following circumstances:
- You disable the replacement of straight quotation marks with smart quotation marks on the AutoFormat As You Type tab in the AutoCorrect Options dialog box.
- You type a word that contains quotation marks in the Replace box on the AutoCorrect tab in the AutoCorrect Options dialog box.
- You type a word in the With box on the AutoCorrect tab in the AutoCorrect Options dialog box.
- You type the word from step 2 into your Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.
- AutoCorrect changes the word from step 4 to the word from step 3.
When you select Change back to old word on the AutoCorrect Options menu on the AutoCorrect Options toolbar, the original word is restored, but the straight quotation marks are changed to smart quotation marks, and the AutoCorrect Options toolbar button no longer appears.
You expect the AutoCorrect Options toolbar button to remain so that you are able to select Redo AutoCorrect on the AutoCorrect Options toolbar menu. NOTE: The AutoCorrect Options toolbar is the command menu that appears beneath the AutoCorrected word.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
