When you attempt to correct the spelling of a word by right-clicking the misspelled word, the AutoCorrect Options toolbar appears instead of the spelling shortcut menu that you expect. This behavior occurs when you follow these steps:
- You type a misspelled word.
Microsoft Word AutoCorrect corrects the word. - You right-click the first letter of the word, in which case, the AutoCorrect Options toolbar button (shown as a blue rectangle) appears.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the AutoCorrect Options toolbar button can be selected with either mouse button.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, right-click a portion of the misspelled word that does not have the AutoCorrect Options toolbar button beneath it.

The AutoCorrect Options toolbar button is the floating command and message box that appears as a small blue rectangle beneath the first character of an auto-corrected word. When you place the mouse pointer over the button, the AutoCorrect Options toolbar appears. From this toolbar, you are able to undo changes that AutoCorrect makes to text, as well as control the AutoCorrect options in Word.
