WD2002: Some Voice Commands Do Not Work When Office Assistant Is Shown (280576)

SYMPTOMS

When the Office Assistant is displayed and you use voice commands, certain commands may not work as expected. For example:
  • Buttons on the Language bar may not respond to voice commands.

    -or-
  • Dialog boxes that you open with voice commands may appear behind the current application.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, hide the Office Assistant while you are using the Voice Command feature with the Language bar. To hide the Office Assistant, follow these steps:
  1. Start your Microsoft Office program.
  2. On the Help menu, click Hide the Office Assistant.
NOTE: When you use other features from the Language bar, the Office Assistant can be shown.

Speech recognition is a feature in Microsoft Office XP that allows you to dictate text into a Microsoft Word document in Dictation mode. Also, in Voice Command mode, you can select menu, toolbar, and dialog box items.
