This article was previously published under Q280332

SYMPTOMS

If you try to send a message in text format (either in plain text format or in Microsoft Outlook Rich Text format) to the Internet in Outlook 2000, the message is sent in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) format if the following conditions are true:
  • If there are two information services, both the Microsoft Exchange Server and the Internet E-Mail service, in the property page.
  • If you have the Microsoft Exchange 2000 mailbox option enabled in the property page.
  • If the order of the information services are as follows in the property page:
    1. Internet E-Mail service
    2. Microsoft Exchange Transport
    3. Microsoft Exchange Remote Transport

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Outlook 2000 does not send a message with the correct format if the message has been stored in the Exchange mailbox with the PR_BODY_HTML property.
