XCON: How to Collect Administrative Dump Files on an X.400 Connector (280315)

SUMMARY

Exchange Server 5.5 includes a troubleshooting utility that enables you to quickly dump an object's raw properties to a text file (Admindmp.txt). This article describes how to collect this information, including data that is set on the Stack tab, for an X.400 connector in Exchange 2000.

  1. Click Start, click Programs, click System Tools, and then double-click Ldp.exe.

    NOTE: If you do not have a Support Tools directory, insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM and start the Windows 2000 Support Tools kit. Click Support, click Tools, and then run Setup.exe. This procedure installs the Support Tools kit, which in turn installs Ldp.exe.
  2. Click Connection, and then click Connect.
  3. Type the server name of the domain controller that you want to connect to, and then in the Port box, enter 389.
  4. Click Connection, and then click Bind.
  5. Type the user name of an account that has directory access, type the password and domain, and then click OK.
  6. On the View menu, click Tree. Verify that the BaseDN setting is blank, and then click OK.
  7. Click the plus sign (+) to expand the folder to find the X.400 connector. Use the following path:

    Configuration/ Services/Microsoft Exchange/OrganizationNameAdministrative Groups/AdministrativeGroupName/Routing Groups/RoutingGroupName/Connections

  8. Click the X.400 connector.
  9. On the Connection menu, click New. This action removes all of the data from the right side of the screen.
  10. On the Options menu, click General, click to select the Binary check box, and then click OK.
  11. Double-click the X.400 connector. The data which is displayed on the right side of the screen is the equivalent of the raw mode Admindmp.txt file in Exchange 5.5.
To save this information use either of the following methods:
  • Right-click the right side of the screen, click All, and then copy the data to a text editor of your choice.

    -or-
  • On the Connection menu, click Save as, and then save the file to a separate location. You can then open this file with any text editor.
