Existing Users Do Not Have Permission to Use the Shared Fax Server and ISA Server if the Servers Are Added After an Initial Install (279973)

If either Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 or Microsoft BackOffice Server 2000 has been installed on your system without a shared fax server or Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 installed at the same time, and then either or both of these latter services are later added to the system using Maintenance mode, the existing users do not automatically receive permission to use either of these services. New users that are added to the system, however, have the option to use these services.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, you must perform the following steps to add the existing users to the corresponding Active Directory security group(s): - Open either the Small Business Server or BackOffice Personal console.
- Under Favorites, click Security Groups.
- In the Security Groups window, locate the appropriate group. (For the fax server use "BackOffice Fax Operators Group". Or, for ISA server use "BackOffice Internet Users Group".)
- Open Security Group and click the Members tab.
- Click Add.
- Select the users to be added to the service, click Add, and then click OK when all users have been selected.
- Click Apply, and then click OK.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.

This behavior can also occur on either Microsoft Small Business Server version 4.5 or Windows 2000 Server with existing users that have been upgraded to Small Business Server 2000.
