Hotfixes in Q279207 and Q264268 May Cause a Windows File Protection Error if Computer Is Not Restarted (279731)

If you install the hotfixes that are described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles without restarting your computer between installations, you may receive a Windows file-protection error message and neither hotfix may be applied:
279207 Access Violation in Inetinfo.exe When Quitting IIS During Heavy Usage
264628 Inetinfo May Generate Access Violation During Shutdown
CAUSE
This problem can occur because both hotfixes update the Coadmin.dll file, and this can cause a conflict if you do not restart your computer.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, install one of the two hotfixes that is described in the "Symptoms" section of this article, restart your computer, and then install the other hotfix.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
