SUMMARY

When you configure the mail attribute as the Connected Directory Anchor attribute, 14105 errors are reported in the Management Agent log.

MORE INFORMATION

In Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS), the mail attribute must be unique in the metadirectory. It also must be composed of the metaverse and the connector name space.

When you set the anchor attribute value, Import.exe attempts to write this attribute to the connector name space. If the mail attribute already exists in the metaverse, a 14105 error is reported in the Management Agent log.

In MMS, you can configure the Connected Directory Anchor attribute to accommodate name changes. You can use this functionality to specify a connected directory attribute that does not change (for example, an employee number or user ID), so that the Management Agent can continue to find the corresponding connector space entry even when the name of the connected directory entry has been changed. For more information, see the Microsoft Metadirectory Services System Administration Manual.

Workaround

When the mail attribute is your only option for a unique attribute, you must modify your configuration. To do this, follow these steps:

NOTE: In the following workaround, the Tutorial Management Agent is used as an example. The zcMisc1 attribute is used as the anchor so that are not any duplicates that are using mail.

  1. Start MMS Compass and search for the zcmisc1 attribute.
  2. Click the zcmisc1 attribute and click the Hashing tab.
  3. Click Caseless Word, and then click OK.
  4. Create a Tutorial Management Agent.
  5. Click Design MA on the Actions menu.
  6. Click Control Metadirectory, click Parsing Templates, and then click Add.
  7. In the Add template, change line 7 from Email: $cd.Mail to Email: $cd.zcMisc1.
  8. Click Construction Template, and then click Metaverse.
  9. Change line 33 from $md.mail = $cd.Mail to $md.mail = $cd.zcMisc1, and then click OK.
  10. Click Configure MA on the Actions menu, click Metadirectory Relationships, and then click Metadirectory Renaming.
  11. Type zcMisc1 in the Name of your Connected Directory Anchor Attribute box, and then click OK.
The Management Agent is now ready to run and it is able to accommodate name changes by using the mail attribute as the Connected Directory Anchor attribute.
