Volume Control Slider Moves to Lowest Level Automatically (279442)

computer that uses an ESS Technologies 1989 sound card, the volume control
slider slowly moves to the lowest level. CAUSEThis issue occurs because the value of the following subkey
is 0 instead of 1: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Enable HW Volume Control RESOLUTIONWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry
Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Follow these
steps, and then quit Registry Editor:
- Click Start, click Run,
type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Enable HW Volume Control - On the Edit menu, click
Modify.
- Type 1, and then press ENTER.
Note You must restart your computer for the changes to take
