This article describes how to import scenery into Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2 from the following versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator:
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.x for MS-DOS
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 95
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 98
Note The procedure that you use to import scenery into Combat Flight Simulator 2 is different than the procedure that you use to import scenery into Combat Flight Simulator or Flight Simulator 98.

You cannot damage or blow up buildings and scenery that you import from Flight Simulator. Buildings that you import from Flight Simulator may also appear different in Combat Flight Simulator 2.

To import scenery from Flight Simulator 95 or Flight Simulator 98 into Combat Flight Simulator 2, the game must be installed on your computer or the Scenery folder must be copied from the Flight Simulator CD-ROM to your hard disk.

To import scenery files from Flight Simulator 5.x for MS-DOS, the game must be installed on your hard disk.

Important Microsoft Product Support cannot help you perform these steps. When you follow these steps, you may damage or overwrite the files that came with your product and you must remove and reinstall that product to recover them.

To import scenery from Flight Simulator into Combat Flight Simulator 2, follow these steps:
  1. Start Combat Flight Simulator 2.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Scenery Library.
  4. Click Add area.
  5. Browse to the folder that contains the scenery that you want to add. This folder must be named Scenery to be recognized by the Scenery Library in Combat Flight Simulator 2.

    The default paths to the Scenery folders are:

  6. Type the name of the scenery file in the Scenery Area Title box.
  7. Click OK until you return to the startup screen.
To use Flight Simulator scenery files in Combat Flight Simulator 2, follow these steps:
  1. On the startup screen, click Free Flight.
  2. Click Start Location.
  3. Click Advanced Go To.
  4. Click Scenery from FS95 and before.
  5. Click the added scenery under Search results.
