WMI Sink Interface Methods May Return Invalid Error Codes (278952)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Management Instrumentation 1.5, when used with:
- the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000
This article was previously published under Q278952 SYMPTOMS
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) uses the IWbemObjectSink and IWbemUnboundObjectSink classes to send event notifications and to report on the status of asynchronous operations. WMI calls the IWbemObjectSink's Indicate method or the IWbemUnboundObjectSink's IndicateToConsumer method to actually deliver events to a consumer. When these methods are called, the event consumer returns an WBEM_S_NO_ERROR (S_OK) code if the operation was successful. If the operation was not successful, the event consumer returns an appropriate error code. In some situations, this error code is overwritten and not propagated back properly to the caller.
