"DFSCMD /BATCH" Command Cannot Handle Spaces in Share Names (278884)

SYMPTOMS

If you are running a Distributed File System (DFS) server on Windows 2000 and some of your share names contain spaces, the share names are not enclosed in quotation marks when you export the configuration by using the dfscmd /view /batch command. Therefore, the share names would not be restored correctly.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by a format error in the Dfscmd tool.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
