Unable to Load Ramdrive.sys in Windows Millennium Edition (278620)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition
This article was previously published under Q278620 If this article does not describe your hardware-related issue, please see the following Microsoft Web site to view more articles about hardware: SYMPTOMS
The Ramdrive.sys device driver that is included with Windows Millennium Edition (Me) cannot be loaded in Windows Me. When you double-click the My Computer icon or when you start Microsoft Windows Explorer, the drive letter that was formerly associated with the random-access memory (RAM) drive is no longer available.
CAUSE
This issue can occur because you removed real-mode support. When real-mode support has been removed, the Device= entries in the Config.sys file are not processed by Windows Me. Therefore, a RAM drive cannot be created.
