PPT2002: Selected Text in Placeholders Is Unexpectedly Highlighted in Color (278595)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
This article was previously published under Q278595 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft PowerPoint, when you select text inside a placeholder, the background of the text becomes highlighted with a new color. When you exit the placeholder, the colored highlighting disappears.
This behavior occurs only when the selected text is formatted in color.
CAUSE
This is new behavior in PowerPoint 2002. It is designed to make the selected text easier to read while it is being edited.
When you change the color of text in a placeholder, and then you select the text, PowerPoint highlights the text in a contrasting color to make it easier to read.
The color of the highlighting depends on the color of the text. For example, when you select red text, the background is highlighted in turquoise. Yellow text is highlighted in blue, purple text in green, and very light colors are highlighted in black.
