You cannot move or resize objects in diagrams or organization charts in PowerPoint 2002 or PowerPoint 2003 (278589)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
This article was previously published under Q278589 SYMPTOMS When you insert a diagram or organization chart into a
Microsoft PowerPoint presentation slide, you may be unable to move or modify
the elements inside the diagram. You are able to add text or additional
elements, but you cannot control the position or size of the elements.
CAUSE This behavior can occur when AutoLayout is available on the Diagram or Organization Chart toolbar. AutoLayout is available by default. RESOLUTION If you want to manually position elements inside of your
diagram, follow these steps:
- On the Insert menu, click Diagram.
- In the Diagram Gallery, select the diagram that you want (for example, Venn Diagram), and then click OK.
- On the Diagram toolbar, click the arrow next to Layout.
- If AutoLayout is selected (a frame appears around the icon), click to clear AutoLayout.
NOTE: These steps also work for an Organization chart, but the Layout button is on the Organization Chart toolbar instead of the Diagram toolbar mentioned in step 3.
