Text is animated off-screen when you use the Magnify effect in PowerPoint (278585)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q278585

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation and then animate a text frame using the Magnify Entrance effect, part of the animation occurs below the bottom edge of the screen.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Magnify Entrance animation starts at 3 inches below the end point of the animation. For any text that is positioned more than 60 percent of the slide's height below the top edge of the slide, the Magnify Entrance animation begins below the bottom edge of the slide.

For example, the standard PowerPoint slide is 7.5 inches tall; for any text that uses the Magnify Entrance animation and is more than 4.5 inches below the top of the slide, the animation effect will start below the bottom edge of the screen.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do not use the Magnify Entrance animation effect if some of the lines of text are near the bottom of the presentation slide.

NOTE: If you want to use the Magnify Entrance animation effect anyway, all of the text will appear on the slide as expected after the animation is complete.
