Exit animations in a PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh presentation do not work when you view them in an earlier version of PowerPoint for Windows (278561)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
- Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
This article was previously published under Q278561 SYMPTOMS
Slide presentations that are created in Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh, and that contain objects with exit animations assigned to them can be played in a later version of Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows, but the exit animations do not work. When you edit the objects, they do not appear to have exit animations assigned to them.
However, when you view the presentation again with PowerPoint 2001, the exit animations now function as they should.
CAUSE
PowerPoint 2001 saves its exit animations in a special format that is ignored by PowerPoint for Windows. This format ensures that the animations are still present after the presentation is viewed or modified by the Windows version of the application.
WORKAROUND
Re-assign the exit animations in PowerPoint. To do this, follow these steps:
- Select the object to which you want to assign an exit animation.
- On the Slide Show menu, click Custom Animation.
- On the Custom Animation toolbar, click Add Effect.
- Select the effect you want. Press F5 to view the presentation.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
