PPT2002: Cannot Change Shared Location for Online Broadcast (278553)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q278553

SYMPTOMS

You may see the following problem if you try to change the location from which a scheduled online presentation broadcast's files are to be shared. The files may be saved to the original location instead of the one you specified in the Settings dialog box.

CAUSE

The Settings dialog box does not update the actual scheduled online broadcast. Scheduled broadcasts are always saved to their originally designated location. Any changes in scheduling include the original location in the meeting requests.

WORKAROUND

To change the locations of a scheduled online presentation broadcast, create a new presentation. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start PowerPoint and open the presentation file.
  2. On the Slide Show menu, click Online Broadcasts, and then click Settings.
  3. On the Presenter tab, change the broadcast file location, and then click OK.
  4. On the View menu, click Slide Sorter.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
  6. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  7. On the Standard toolbar, click the new file icon.
  8. On the View menu, click Slide Sorter.
  9. Click the slide in the new presentation and press the DELETE key. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
  10. On the Edit menu, click Save. Give the file a new name, and then click Save.
  11. On the Slide Show menu, click Online Broadcasts, and then click Schedule a Live Broadcast.
  12. Click Schedule, address the meeting request, and click Send.
After the new meeting request has been sent, you may want to delete the original broadcast.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
