SYMPTOMS

You may receive the following error message in the Userenv log:
0x80090324
Then, you may receive the following error message:
The clocks on the client and server computers are skewed.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because there is a time skew error: the clocks on the client computers and the server are not synchronized.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, verify that both the clients and server are in the correct time zone and that the time is properly synchronized.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows 2000 uses the Kerberos protocol as the default authentication protocol. The Kerberos protocol requires that the clocks on the clients and server are synchronized (by default) to five minutes of each other, otherwise the authentication process is unsuccessful. If this process is unsuccessful, the identity of the user cannot be verified and any operation that requires the user to prove an identity can also be unsuccessful.

NOTE: This error is a standard Win32 error code; and it may be displayed in other situations with the same meaning.
