To troubleshoot poor performance in Combat Flight Simulator, use the following methods in the order in which they appear. After you use each method, test to determine whether the issue is resolved.

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

Change Your View Mode to Cockpit View

To change your view mode to Cockpit view in Combat Flight Simulator 2:
  1. Press ALT to display the menu.
  2. On the Views menu, point to View Mode, and then click Cockpit.

    NOTE: The Virtual Cockpit and the Spot Plane view modes require more resources than the Cockpit view mode.
  3. In Cockpit view mode, you can press F3 to cycle between the following Forward views:
    • Full (Maximize)
    • Heads Up Display (HUD)
    • Panel
NOTE: The Full view is the best view for performance, followed by the HUD view.

Adjust Sound in the Game

NOTE: If you do not have speakers connected to your system, turn off the sound and radio transmissions. This will improve performance. (You can also turn off damage text if you want.)

To adjust sound in the game:
  1. While in flight, press ALT, click Options, and then click Settings.

    -or-

    On the startup screen, click Settings.

    NOTE: In Combat Flight Simulator 3, click Options, and then click Sound Options.
  2. Under Sound volume, move the sliders to adjust each type of sound.

    NOTE: To turn off a type of sound, move the slider all the way to the left (the zero setting).
  3. Click OK.
NOTE: To turn off all sounds in the game, press Q.

Turn Off the Tactical Display

The Tactical Display, which may only help in non-combat situations, lets you keep track of both friendly and enemy aircraft, ships, or vehicles. To turn on or turn off the tactical display, press SHIFT+T.
