OL2002: Mail Merge Helper Appears When You Create Mailing Labels or Envelopes from Outlook Contacts (278221)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q278221

SYMPTOMS

When you click Contacts in Outlook 2002, and you then start a mail merge operation and click Mailing Labels or Envelopes as the document type, the program may require you to click Complete Setup and then use the resulting Mail Merge Helper.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the mail merge process requires extra user input for the Mailing Labels and Envelopes document types.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior may be inconsistent with mail merges that use other document types. When you perform a mail merge by using the Form Letters or Catalog document type, you may be able to simply click Edit Mail Merge document and then work within the document itself.
