OL2002: Error Messages Appear When You Modify Recurring Event Start and End Times (278197)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q278197 SYMPTOMS
After you create a new recurring event and then try to modify it to last less than 24 hours, the following message appears:
The duration of the appointment must be shorter than how frequently it occurs. Shorten the duration, or change the recurrence pattern in the Appointment Recurrence dialog box.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because a recurring event starts at 12:00 midnight one day and ends at 12:00 midnight the following day. When you specify a different end time, the hour selected is also for the following day, which makes the appointment duration greater than 24 hours.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, instead of attempting to modify a recurring event, create a new recurring appointment, configure the recurrence pattern, the start and end times, reminders, and so forth: - Start Outlook 2002, and then click Calendar.
- On the Actions menu, click New Recurring Appointment.
- Configure the details of the event as desired.
- When you finish, click Save and Close.
