OL2002: Outlook Automatically Adds U.S. Code When You Enter Fixed-Format Phone Number (278185)

When you enter a fixed-format phone number, Outlook may automatically add the United States country code (+1) even if the number is in another country.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if the Automatically add country code to local phone numbers check box is selected in the Dialing Options dialog box.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, clear the Automatically add country code to local phone numbers check box:
- In the Contacts folder, click the entry that contains the error.
- On the Actions menu, point to Call Contact, and then click New Call.
- In the New Call dialog box, click Dialing Options, clear the Automatically add country code to local phone numbers check box, click OK, and then click Close.
- Type the phone number again.
