OL2002: Some Settings Do Not Migrate When You Upgrade from Exchange Client to Outlook 2000 (278129)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q278129

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade from Microsoft Exchange Client 5.0 to Outlook 2002, not all of your settings are migrated during the upgrade.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because some of the settings are not stored in the same location, and they may have different values. Many settings for Exchange Client are stored in the MAPI profile. For Outlook 2002, many of these settings are stored as part of the Outlook preferences, and are not profile specific.

Spelling options, for example, are not stored as part of a profile and are a general Outlook setting.
