WARNING: This article discusses advanced developer issues. If you are not familiar with modifying the Outlook Outlwvw.dll through programming code, then this article does not apply to you.

SYMPTOMS

After you install Outlook 2002, the customizations that you made to your Outlook Today view via modification of the Outlwvw.dll file in Outlook 2000 are missing.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Outlook 2002 setup replaces the Outlwvw.dll file, the file that provides the functionality of the Outlook Today view, with a newer version. This file is upgraded to enable some Outlook 2002 features to work correctly. Because of this, the modifications that you made to the Outlwvw.dll file in Outlook 2000 are lost after the installation of Outlook 2002 is complete.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, modify the updated Outlwvw.dll as desired.

IMPORTANT:Note that modifying the Outlwvw.dll is not supported by Microsoft Product Support Services, so any changes you make are considered developer modifications to the product and are outside the scope of support for Outlook.
