BUG: Changing Cluster Master May Cause Application Center 2000 Admin to Display Errors (278111)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Application Center 2000 Administration snap-in to change the cluster master, and if the cluster master is changed successfully, the snap-in may display various errors instead of showing the new cluster configuration. You may see various errors that end with "This server is not the cluster controller," depending on what displays you have selected in the right pane.

CAUSE

The Application Center 2000 Administration snap-in does not automatically reconnect to the new cluster master after a cluster master switch.

RESOLUTION

To restore the correct displays, you can press F5 or click any of the refresh menu items or buttons.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Create a two-node cluster.
  2. Connect to the member, open Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Applications Center 2000 Administration snap-in, and then connect to cluster.
  3. Designate a member to be the Cluster Controller (CC).
