OL2002: Outlook Discards NTFS Streams When Saving File Attachments (278060)

SYMPTOMS

When you save an Outlook file attachment that contains an NTFS file system data stream to disk, Outlook discards the NTFS stream, and the following error message appears when you try to open the data:
"The system cannot find the file specified."
This behavior occurs only when the file is saved to an NTFS partition. It does not occur with FAT or FAT32 partitions.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
