Error Message When You Use a Microsoft Video For Windows-Based Program with a USB Digital Video Camera (278033)

SYMPTOMS

When you are using a Microsoft Video For Windows-based program with a Universal Serial Bus (USB) digital video camera, you may receive the following error message on a blue screen or one that is similar to it:
A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:???????? in VXD VWIN32(??) + ????????. The current application will be terminated.

* Press any key to terminate the current application.
* Press CTRL+ALT+DEL again to restart your computer. You will lose any unsaved information in all applications.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you previously installed the "Update for 1394 Storage Peripherals in Windows 98 Second Edition."

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
