ACC97: Error Message: Cannot Find Msau7032.dll (277922)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q277922 Moderate: Requires basic macro, coding, and interoperability skills.
SYMPTOMS
When you start the Microsoft Access Developer's Toolkit for Windows 95 Setup Wizard, you receive the following error message:
Run-time error '53' File Not found Msau7032.dll
You may also receive a prompt to convert or enable the database before receiving the error message.
CAUSE
The default file association for .mdb files on your computer is for a version of Microsoft Access other than Microsoft Access for Windows 95 (Access 95 version 7.0). Either Access 95 is not installed on your computer, or a newer version of Access is installed in addition to Access 95, and the wizard is trying to use the newer version.
RESOLUTION
How to resolve the problem depends on the configuration of your computer, as follows.
If Access 95 Is Not Installed on Your Computer
The Microsoft Access Developer's Toolkit for Windows 95 requires Access 95. If you are trying to use the Microsoft Access Developer's Toolkit for Windows 95 with any other version of Access, it will not function correctly. If you do not have Access 95 on your computer, you must install it.
If you want to use tools that have functionality similar to the Microsoft Access Developer's Toolkit for Windows 95 with other versions of Access, you must install the appropriate software for the version of Access that you are using, as follows: - Access 2.0:
Use the Microsoft Access Developer's Toolkit version 2.0.
- Access 97:
Use the Microsoft Office 97 Developer Edition tools.
- Access 2000:
Use Microsoft Office 2000 Developer.
- Access 2002:
Use Microsoft Office XP Developer.
If You Have Other Versions of Access Installed in Addition to Access 95
If you have Access 95 on your computer and you are getting the error message, you must modify the Start menu shortcut (or create your own) to specify the correct version of Access to use with the wizard. To do so, follow these steps:
- Right-click the Start button, and then click Explore.
- In the Programs folder, locate the shortcut for the Setup Wizard.
- Right-click the shortcut for the Setup Wizard, and then click Properties.
- Find the Target property. The target property should contain the path to the Setup Wizard file Wzstp70.mdb.
- Modify the path to point first to the correct version of Msaccess.exe, and then to Wzstp70.mdb. For example, if Access 95 was installed to C:\Access95, and the wizard file was at C:\Access95\Access\ADT\Setup Wizard\wzstp70.mdb, the Target property should be set as follows:
"C:\Access95\Access\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\Access95\Access\ADT\Setup Wizard\wzstp70.mdb"
- When you are finished, click OK to close the Shortcut Properties box. Your Setup Wizard shortcut should now work correctly from the Start menu.
MORE INFORMATION
There are third-party books that have published code that references the Msau7032.dll file. Microsoft has not tested and does not support third-party code. Please verify that you are using an example written for the correct version of Access.
