Wireless Mobility Tab Not Visible After Installing Mobile Information 2001 Server (277887)

SYMPTOMS

When you run Setup for Mobile Information 2001 Server and select individual components to install, if you click to select only the System Manager check box under Microsoft Mobile Information Server, the Mobile Information 2001 Server System Manager Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in is installed, but the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in is not extended to include the Wireless Mobility tab, which allows you to configure mobile users.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because you can choose individual components during Mobile Information 2001 Server setup. You can install System Manager only to use a workstation for administration. However, if you do not click to select the User Provisioning check box as well, the Wireless Mobility tab is unavailable in Active Directory Users and Computers.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, click to select both the System Manager and User Provisioning check box when you install Mobile Information 2001 Server on a workstation to use the workstation for administration.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
