The last version of the Microsoft ODBC Driver for Visual FoxPro (VFP) is 6.01.8629.01. The VFP ODBC driver is no longer included in Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.6 or later versions.

MORE INFORMATION

The FoxPro ODBC driver is in maintenance mode only. No further updates to this product are planned, unless they are designed to specifically address a problem identified to have a wide impact on its users.

The OLE DB provider for Visual FoxPro ("the provider") is the recommended replacement for the FoxPro ODBC driver. The provider began shipping with VFP 7.0. The most recent version of the provider is available for download from the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site and can be distributed as part of your solutions as outlined in the included EULA.

All versions of Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows Millennium Editionshipped with MDAC version 2.5 preinstalled. Therefore, the most recent VFP ODBC driver is already included in these operating systems. This driver is not removed by upgrading to MDAC 2.6 or later versions. Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows 2000 shipped with the Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver version 1.00.02.00. This is just a nonfunctional stub or a placeholder. To connect to FoxPro data, you must download and install either the VFP ODBC driver or the provider.

To download MDAC, visit the following MSDN Web site:In earlier Microsoft Windows operating systems (such as Microsoft Windows 95 and 98), no set of data access components is included.

To download the most recent version of the OLE DB Provider for Microsoft Visual FoxPro, visit the following MSDN Web site:We strongly recommend that you use the OLE DB Provider for VFP to access VFP data. However, a stand-alone installation for the VFP ODBC driver is still available at the following Web site: This Web site includes links to localized version of the setup, as well as a Merge Module for developers who wish to distribute the driver with their custom applications.
