Predictor Model Fails If the Model Name Is Longer than 128 Characters (277381)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2002
  • Microsoft Commerce Server 2000

This article was previously published under Q277381

SYMPTOMS

If you try to create a Predictor Model with a name that is longer than 128 characters, the following error message occurs:
Build Failed: Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work done.
If you try to create a model that is between 111 and 127 characters, the following error message occurs:
Build Failed: The Identifier that starts with PredictorSegments_(Name that you specified) is too long. Maximum length is 128.

CAUSE

Commerce Server 2000 appends the name of the PredictorSegments_ table (which is 18 characters) to the name of the Predictor Model. Therefore, any name that is 111 characters or greater causes the name of the model to be longer than the maximum length of 128 characters.

WORKAROUND

Use a name with less than 111 characters.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Commerce Server 2000.
