Profile Service Cannot Query or Update a View in a Relational Database (277142)

SQL Server 2000 supports improved scalability through Federated Database Servers. Federated Database Servers support horizontal table partitioning across multiple databases working together. Views on each database allow clients to treat the partitioned tables as a single table for query and update purposes, yet the work required to service each request is distributed across multiple SQL Server computers. The Profile Service in Commerce Server 2000 cannot support this SQL Server 2000 configuration because it cannot connect to a view.
CAUSE
Although you may be able to connect to a SQL Server 2000 View from the Profile Service, this configuration has not been designed or tested, and therefore, is unsupported.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
